CRUISIN' in '09

For Christmas, our family all went on a cruise to Cozumel and Progresso. We didn't go until January but it was a fun time. We went to Chitzen Itza and a sink hole. We ate! We danced! We laughed! We ate more! Dusty and Brandon had an 11:00 pm appointment at the pizza place everynight. Sushi was a hit before and after supper. Our family really contributed to this cruise! Aimee, Caren, Dani and some strange girl did Karoake, Dani was in the game show, Roxanne was in the talent show, and I heard some of the kids got really involved in the Quest game. We were able to get some Carribean suntans (burns in my case), Drink virgin Miami vices and raspberry smoothies, and eat more! They are telling the truth when they tell you that you will gain weight!

A White Christmas!

Nothing like going to Utah for Christmas! 2008 wasn't a disappointment! The ground was blanketed with beautiful white snow that Little Lexi loves to eat! We were afraid we wouldn't make our flight because we couldn't find parking! EVERY parking lot was full. Only those who had reservations were allowed in or if you had a customer card, which Dad just happen to have, allowed customers to have valet parking (who knows where the car was) but it allowed us to make our flight on time. Lesson learned in this: "If you travel during the holidays, reserve your parking space." I never knew this was even an option much less a requirement in some cases. But on with the story...the airport was full! I guess lots of people were having a hard time getting around because of the weather. Usually, it's pretty quite on the holiday but the plane was full. When we got to Dani's house, we had a couple of those large Christmas package bags that we covered ourselves with and then rang the doorbell for our granddaughter to come see what Santa had brought her. One note: those bags aren't really big enough for a 6'2" man to fit in. Lexi saw those big shoes and was afraid to open the bags to see what was in them. Dani had to end up pulling the bags off so Lexi could see Memaw and PaPa. The next few days brought fun, food and family! From building snow men, snow sleding, and Dusty doing donuts in parking lots (did I say "with mom in the car"?), it was fun to be with all of our children and their families! But pictures are worth 1000 words!

True Love

Saturday is supposed to be a "sleep late" day? Not! This past Saturday was no exception. We had to be at the Houston Temple by 8:30 for Kallie and Jared's Sealing. It was a beautiful day! I even got to sit in as Kallie's moma! : ) After we left the temple, we went to the bookstore and then we went to the Houston Musuem of Natural Science to see Body Works! WOW! It was phenominal! The only bad part was that they wouldn't allow photographs! We ended the evening celebrating John and Ester's 50th Wedding Anniversary! They renewed their vows and were so happy. If only all of us could love our spouse as much as they do! We'd all make it to our 50th! This week brings anniversaries to 3 of our 4 married kids (the 4th celebrates their 1st in January)! Happy Anniversary to you and yours and may you continue to grow your love for each other. Every day I realize that I love Rodney more than I did the day before. It's the unspoken, simple things that make a difference. I love his intelligence, his smile, his optimism, his kindness, and I could go on but you get the picture. Here's to TRUE LOVE!

Californi...aaaaa

We had the annual AIWD meeting in California this year. We flew into San Diego on election day. (Yes, we did early voting.) We saw lots of people by polling places with their vote "Yes for Prop 8" signs. We went by the San Diego Temple, too! As you can tell from the picture I took, the weather was absolutely gorgeous, as was the temple! It looks like a Castle out of a fairy tale! WOW! We drove on to Indian Wells right next to Palm Springs. There is close to 130 golf courses there someone said. We stayed at the Esmeralda Resort and Spa and enjoyed the relaxing time there. Glad to be home now!
